I put white roses in this for my sister's 70th birthday party, then gave it to her as a gift. (I actually gave her a choice between three blue vases. A friend was turning 70 the next month, and she also got a lovely vase from Amazon. I can't speak to sturdiness, since I only had it sitting out for a week or so. It's gorgeous art glass and lovely on a shelf. In fact, it's a little prettier with light shining through it than it is with the green stems. I was proud to give it as a gift. It came very safely packaged, but the carton was a little bulky. If I were to give it personally without flowers, I'd save the carton but wrap it in a prettier box.
