These are well made and sealed around the base to prevent leaks. They would be great for potted plants. I plan to use them as water towers for a model train layout since they are the perfect scale for the trains that I have. I could see these being used for a number of different uses such as pencil holders, vases for cut flowers, candle holders, etc
